Numerical Evaluation of Residual Stress Influence on SIF in CT Specimen

چکیده

Residual stresses are usually associated with induced by heterogeneous deformations as a cause of phase transition and thermal stress. The residual can appear during the manufacturing process, repair or in some cases due to operational loads. These should be taken into account structural integrity evaluation low-toughness materials case fatigue and/or stress corrosion cracking (SCC) situations. Indeed, it is known that affect crack growth rates. For better understanding how these interact propagation pre-strained stainless-steel specimens, numerical modeling has been performed. tension compact (CT) specimen was simulated result, intensity factor (SIF) calculated. main goal this paper numerically calculate factors along front CT compare them results same just without stresses. task finite element analysis (FEA), code CAST3M used. Simulation showed higher SIF values were calculated at sides lower middle part machined from highly plate which opposite what could expected

Numerical and Experimental Evaluation of Residual Stress and Fatigue Strength of Steel CK35 in Shot Peening Process

In shot peening process the work piece surface is struck by a large number of balls and compressive residual stress is generated on the surface. So, mechanical properties such as fatigue strength, stress corrosion resistance, smooth shape and ... will improve. In this paper, the balls with a speed of 100 to 200 m/s were struck on the steel samples and fatigue strength compared with specimens wi...

Influence of Residual Stress on Fatigue Life of Hot Forged and Shot Blasted Steel Components

Hot forging is a common manufacturing process for the production of large quantities of engineering components. Residual stresses are developed in forged components as a result of various aspects of the manufacturing process, including subsequent cooling, and heat treatment. Residual stresses can significantly affect the deformation and fatigue failure of materials. Hot forged EN15R steel bars ...
